Kia unveils second generation Seltos: performance and design features
Kia has officially launched the second generation of its compact crossover, the Seltos, designated as SP3. The first generation, SP2, was introduced in 2019 and quickly gained global popularity, being produced in various countries such as South Korea, India, and Vietnam. In Russia, the model was assembled at the Avtotor plant until production ceased in 2022.
The new Seltos SP3 measures 4430 mm in length, 1830 mm in width, and stands 1600 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2690 mm. Compared to its predecessor, the new model has increased in length by 40 mm, in width by 30 mm, while the height remains unchanged. The wheelbase has grown by 60 mm.
The exterior design follows Kia's latest styling philosophy, featuring smooth and clean lines. The roof subtly separates from the body sides through sleek black gloss accents on the pillars. The profile of the Seltos showcases a rising window line, similar to the previous model. The headlight units are elegantly housed within a wide black grille, and the side mirrors are mounted on slender brackets for a modern appearance.
Inside, the Seltos offers a horizontally oriented dashboard architecture, combining the instrument cluster and media display into a single 12.3-inch screen setup. It allows for online updates of the media system software. The cargo capacity has also seen an improvement, now totaling 536 liters, an increase of 103 liters compared to the prior generation.
The engine lineup includes two gasoline options: a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing 178 or 190 hp depending on customer choice, and a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine generating 147 hp. The transmission options include a six-speed manual, a seven-speed dual-clutch, or an eight-speed automatic. The base configuration offers front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is available at an additional cost.
Additionally, a parallel hybrid version is planned for future release, though specific details have not yet been disclosed. Sales of the new Seltos are set to commence in early 2026, coinciding with the anticipated arrival of the hybrid variant.
